Halloween Themed Structures
 Articulating Dinosaur  Flying saucer  Ewok vilage  Custom props  Tunnel of terror We, at DFC Woodworks Inc., have enjoyed scaring people throughout the years. We started out making custom props in 1989 to help our friends decorate their houses during the ghoulish season. Our work became known for its uniqueness and high quality, which led to us creating custom made haunted houses for local Malls. In 1994 we were approached by Bill and Ann Saunders, from Saunders Farm, to help them create a fun and scary Halloween season. Throughout the years Saunders Farm has become known for their Halloween time of year including the scary props and sets we built. Our unique custom works have helped increase their attendance rates and have played an integral part in their success. This Scary Dinosaur was commissioned by Saunders Farm to be added to their haunted hay ride in 1998. It is still in operation to this day. This structure was made to resemble a Tyrannosaurus Rex. This dinosaur is 17 feet tall by 32 feet long and 7 feet wide. It is perfectly balanced so that an operator can stand where the tail would be, where he or she can gently lift, and in effect, lower the head. As the head comes down, at the same time, the mouth opens and a ferocious growl is heard! Please be aware, this is an extremely frightening experience! To keep cost down we were resourceful in utilising used farm equipment, like an old hay conveyer, for the base of the body. We even utilized an antique Haymore for the sharp teeth! Though this piece was made to function with an operator, it could be customised with hydraulics and electronic eyes to render it operator free. We can also make other three dimensional creatures, of your choice, for your own “Scary hayrides”. Let your imagination soar!
Flying Saucer and Aliens 
This combination of flying saucer and two aliens, in the woods, was made with aluminum and fibre glass. The flying saucer is 8 feet in diameter and made with lightweight materials, so that it can be suspended in mid air easily. It has a dark plastic dome, running lights on the outside, and a red spotlight underneath the saucer which is very effective in showing thrust, especially at night. The combination of special effects, such as a smoke machine and alien sounds, can make for a very scary addition to your haunted hay ride. The aliens were created to stand close to the path of the wagon trail. This would allow an operator to release a lever and subsequently the aliens would “pop up” separately! These creatures were made on a platform that gets anchored down to the ground. This combination is really “out of this world”! This can be made fully automated upon request.
Ewok Village and Bear in the Woods 
This custom made Ewok Village would not look so scary in the Haunted Hay ride if it were not for the live actors that made it so effective. It included 3 separate rope bridges, a custom falling large rock and a scary Bear hanging in a tree. The bear was carved out of a wooden log and then covered in fur. It was activated to turn towards the incoming wagon. In addition, the large rock was made perfectly balanced in order to fall into an incoming wagon full of “unsuspecting” victims! It was made to stop a mere few feet from incoming riders hence giving the desired effect, lots of shrieks and screams!
Custom Made Halloween Props 
Throughout the years, we at DFC Woodworks Inc., have made a wide variety of custom made Halloween props ranging from coffins and dungeon equipment to an iron maiden and a working guillotine! Custom made scary cemeteries to haunted houses filled with all the necessary accessories, to scare your patrons, would surely contribute to a frightening experience. Most of the items were made by DFC Woodworks Inc. but items such as the ‘skeletons” were purchased from other suppliers. We have created all kinds of themed rooms from the intricate “Indiana Jones” corridor with “pop up skeletons”, which fall towards you, to crooked rooms with lots of creaks and squeaks! We can supply you with some basic custom made props for your own haunted house or help you create and design your own unique scary haunted affair!
Tunnel Of Terror 
This large 10 foot diameter tunnel was built to have a specific effect on the “unsuspecting” people entering it. The tunnel is 18 feet long with a solid 32 inch wide ramp going through the entire structure. It was built to be an integral part of a haunted house. The inside was painted black and white dots were added for effect. We made our original design with a custom made gear box and motor. This allowed the “Tunnel of Terror” to turn 17 times a minute giving the desired effect we were looking for. As patrons entered the tunnel, they were feeling the sensation that the entire ramp was being tilted! This tunnel was such a great success that the following year another “Tunnel of Terror”, 17 feet in diameter by 36 feet long was made. It was constructed to include a bridge that could hold an entire tractor and wagon with 45 people on it! The larger tunnel gave patrons the same effect of tilting. This “Tunnel of Terror” creates an abundance of screams and chills to this day!
The Haunted Mini-Putt 
This simple but fun 4 hole mini-putt included many features and was made 3 feet wide with various shapes. 1st hole was a simple but effective tombstone made out of white pine. 2nd hole was a custom carved scary looking spider with 8-long creepy legs. 3rd hole was a haunted house. 4th hole consisted of a custom carved ghoulish creature. The same mini-putt can be converted easily to reflect other themes throughout the year. Contact us and we can help you design and build your own custom mini-putt!
